We had 10 days and 9 nights in Lijiang. It is truly a gorgeous place. Although we are big fans of travel in the off season, this week it didn't work out to our advantage. We headed to the lake - drained for some work, to the museum - closed for a bit. Then good old Mother Nature messed with our plans - fire near where we wanted to hike, earthquake in the other town we wanted to see. We just couldn't win! Maybe since all their classmates were busy this week doing standardized tests for hours a day the Math gods conspired against sightseeing and found a way to make the girls do school work!
We did get in another visit to the nightclub. This time Celeste told Anthony, "If your butt comes off the bench, I am out the door." He behaved. No one was embarassed, but it wasn't nearly as much fun. One other funny story from our time here. One night there was no agreement on dinner plans so we separated and Celeste and I headed out to one place and AG and Nina another. On the way back from dinner, Celeste and I were passing the nightclub. Gangnam was playing (what else?) and we stopped outside to watch people dancing. A very friendly guy spotted us and came leaping out the window! "Hello. Welcome to China. Please have a drink with my friends." What the heck?! So we went in and I had a beer with James and his friends and he bought Celeste a lollipop from a clown. Very strange, but true!
Time to head out. In the morning we fly to Xi'an for a date with the terra cotta warriors.
