Over the Hills and Far Away
Here is the list of the new foods the girls have tried on the trip. They were challenged to reach 100 by our good friend, Betsy.
1) cod fritters
2) grilled eggplant
3) paella
4) radish
5) ratatouille
6) wit loof, traditional Belgian dish with endive
7) cherry beer (in a pub in Antwerp)
8) jicama
9) gnocchi
10) Speculaas, Dutch gingerbread
11) Schneeballen, pastry in Germany
12) sauerkraut
13) risotto
14) gold flakes, on their cake at tea with the Baroness
15) parsnip
16) schnitzel, both pork and veal
And while some of these don't seem very daring or local, they were new! And for the two lamest of all "new" foods. Celeste ate a green olive and Nina ate kiwi! They are both at 17. We are headed to Asia in January and that list should grow quickly!
