Day 23
Albany to Cocklebiddy
Would like to spend more time in south-west as there's so much to see, but running out of time - so it's a long day ahead. Best Western supplied a packed lunch so off into the start of the 'endless' wheat fields, stopping at Esperance for a beach-side lunch.
Then on to Norseman - decided to keep going and attempt to get onto the Nullarbor before nightfall, only to be held up just out of town by 50 kms of road works. Finally got to Belladonia then onto the 144km perfectly straight stretch of road, before running out of steam at Cocklebiddy, in the middle of nowhere.
Did you know.......there's a central-western time zone?
Running from Cocklebiddy to Border Village is a 'limbo-zone' brought about by the sighting of the original telegraph station at Cocklebiddy housing operators from both WA and SA, sitting next to each other, but operating in timezones one and a half hours apart. So to make life a bit easier, they compromised and made the time half-way between the capital of each state, thus creating the central-western timezone.
