After a bit of a sleep-in, I packed up the camper in slight drizzle. I hit the road about 9:30am and headed to Gunns Plains. Just out of Waringa, I noticed a sign for Preston Falls, so I pulled up went for a short adventure. The falls were quite nice to see.
I then continued to Gunns Plains Caves, and arrived about 10:30. The next tour was at 11:00am, so there was only a short wait.
There was nobody else for the tour, so it was a one-on-one with Geoff the tour guide. He told a few stories as we traversed the myriad of stairs and walkways throughout the cave. There is quite a bit history about the place, and has changed over the years to improve the lighting.
There were some tight sections where others have squeezed and bumped the protrusion in the cave, Geoff called them Panadol rock, hair parter, Panadine Forte, etc.
The tour took just on hour and was thoroughly enjoyable. And good value at $17.00.
So back on the road, and I called into Burnie for some hardware, groceries, and fuel. The next stop was Stanley. I decided I could do with staying at the Caravan Park for a couple of days. That'd enable me to top up the batteries, as the overcast weather was not conducive for solar charging.
I checked into the caravan park and quickly setup the camper. It was blowing a gale and I had to tie down the camper tent section (top and bottom) as it was moving around a lot. It was far too windy to cook, so I decided I'd have a pub meal. I walked up to the pub about 6:30pm only to be informed they were fully booked, and suggest I book for 7:30 (which I did). I returned back to the caravan park for a while to kill some time. Back to the pub for a lovely meal, and I even had desert which is a rarity.
The wind had died down by the time I returned to the camper, and had a very solid sleep.
