We decided to get away from Frankfurt for the day so we caught the train to Heidelberg about an hour away by train. It turned out to be a good choice as it was much smaller than Frankfurt. We walked slowly through the main shopping mall which was about 3km long before crossing the river and walking up the Philosophers Walk. Then we walked up the hill towards Schloss Castle. The castle was damaged during WW11 but much still stands. We caught a funicular train up to the top of the mountain and watched a paraglider take off. As it was getting late we had dinner at a German restaurant in Heidelberg before catching the train back to Frankfurt. We chose a German meal in keeping with the country. Tomorrow is final packing day as our plane for Australia via Hong Kong leaves at 1pm local time.
