Our Global Gallivants
On the drive south to Salt Lake City, maybe 15-20 minutes outside Idaho Falls, the roadside topography suddenly changed. There were what looked like large black cinder blocks. They were aligned in such a way that made you think there was an earthquake that jostled them and knocked them out of position. In some areas, one of them right next to the highway, it looked like a large sinkhole, big enough to swallow 2 or 3 trucks. Turns out that it's lava formations!
The drive has been somewhat smoky because of the forest fires in Montana. The worst of it being around Butte. We eventually had to put the top up on the car, but seems better today.
After we checked in to the hotel, we walked over to City Creek Mall to get something to eat. It's a really nice mall-very grand structure with a lot of water features. The Comic-Con festival is on here, so there are a lot of "interesting" characters running around.
We went for sushi at Takashi's. It's a very busy restaurant and was packed. The food was good.
