Our Global Gallivants
I've been a little lazy about writing the blog, so better play catch up. We drove into Honolulu on Thursday and went for dim sum in the Chinatown here. It was pretty good. We did a little shopping for veggies at the markets there. They have a nice selection to pick from, but on things are on the pricey side. Dave and Dwight made a delicious dinner of ahi tuna, asparagus and potatoes. Yesterday we drove to the north shore and made a pit stop for lunch at a Diners, Drive-ins and Dives food truck. They specialize in shrimp. They were a nice size and a choice of flavours. Dwight had butter and garlic and we had coconut shrimp. They give you 10 shrimp on a bed of rice. It was a great lunch. We continued on and sat on the beach watching the surfers. The waves weren't very high, but it was still fun to watch. We got rained out, so we drove back home. Dwight was requesting some bok choy, so Dave made a stir fry dish with bok choy and chicken. Last nights movie was Black Mass, the Whitey Bulger story. Violent and evil man. Today we went into town for lunch. We chose a Chinese restaurant based on convenience and had some noodles. Made another pit stop in Costco to pick up some shrimp. Jan and I went out for a walk, the wind made the temperature pretty pleasant. We wound our way through the Disney resort to have a look at the fish. They have a small beginners snorkelling pond there with all kinds of tropical fish stocked in it. The water level is based on a kids eye view to see the fish and the snorkellers swimming around. It's a nice resort. We walked back along the boardwalk that borders the beach. Yesterday's walk took us past a wedding that had just come out of the chapel and we're going to take photos on the beach.
