Our Global Gallivants
Arrived in Qualicum Beach Thursday. Was a beautiful ferry ride over. The sun was shining and the water was like glass. It takes 2 hours to cross from Tsawwassen to Duke Point in Nanaimo. For some reason, the gps insisted on running a simulation program and we could not get a signal on the iPad or the cell phone, so we got lost. We eventually figured it out and the gps eventually recovered.
We were invited to use Sensei Reiner's kayaks to go kayaking on Friday Friday night training was from 6:00-9:00. We were invited to Sensei Reiner and Eileen's place for dinner. Salmon on a cedar plank-it was delicious. Saturday's training was 9:00-12:00 and a 1 1/2 hour break for lunch. We went for sushi lunch with the group and then went back to train for another 2 hours. The afternoon session was difficult. You're trying to digest at the same time you're exercising. It was difficult to warm up again after stopping for so long.
Saturday night everyone was invited to Sensei Reiner's for dinner. It was great-barbecued beef, chicken sausage and chicken breast. All sorts of salads and potatoes and apple pie with ice cream. Visited with a number of karate people.
Training on Sunday was 9-1 for Dave and 10-1 for me. There were a couple of students grading shortly after training, so Dave had to stay for that. We had an oyster burger for a late lunch after that. We were invited to Sensei Reiner's for dinner tonight. It was a fun evening, lots of laughs.
