Today we woke up really early at six thirty ish... Must have had a very rested night. We laid in bed reading and chatting before venturing out about seven am. We packed up our bags as we were going to move to the dorm today (our room was booked) then headed downstairs for breakfast. On route we met Kai the owner who told us we could stay in our room ...yippee! We sat in the front watching the early morning traffic and had some breakfast, Jack went for four rounds of marmite on toast and I had a couple of bananas. We then planned our day... A little.
We decided to do a walking tour of old Phuket with its old Portuguese buildings and chic little shops. It was hot today and getting hotter by the second so we took it slow. The walk was lovely and we enjoyed wandering around and taking in the vibe. The town is quite quaint and not many tourists around as I think they all head out to Patong etc. we found a cute little tea house with cupcake stands and tea cups but left as it was stupidly pricey. After the walk we headed back to the hotel for a refresh before venturing out again... Jack wasn't coping well with the heat which was becoming more intense. We are aiming to head to monkey hill but our route took us through quite a rough looking area. We looked at each other and gave that 'let's just head back' feeling. We think it proved the right decision as in 35 degrees heat only mad dogs and Englishmen would go for a stroll. We spent the rest of the afternoon discussing plans for the week ahead and having to gradually move chairs further back into the hostel as the sunlight was stalking us continuously. We both had cold showers which you do get used to and actually feel amazing once you get over the initial shock of the cold water. Around us the men were working erecting new dorms with walls made of plywood or something, I guess it's cheap.
