Today I woke alone in the room with the sunshine piercing through a gap in the curtains. I wasn't aware of the time but felt well rested so got up and headed up to the veranda where Jack was no doubt checking the news. He was indeed so I made a coffee and sat with him, he was still feeling a bit rough and did feel hot to touch. I was hoping it was one of these twenty four hour things that clears after a few doses of paracetamol. We sat for a while chatting and drinking our coffees before he said he needed a lie down... He hadn't slept last night so was feeling a bit tired. I followed him about ten minutes later and found him curled up under the blankets watching a movie... The Ridd*** chronicles, he must be ill.
I had a shower and freshened up before I headed out to get him some food and drugs, we didn't have any paracetamol and normally once his fever is gone then he feels a lot better. I left him dozing and headed out into the brutal heat where I was drenched in sweat before I had even reached the next street. I found a pharmacy and the women tried to rip me off so I just gave up asking for the cheapest paracetamol and carried on walking. My walk took me right into the centre of town and soon enough I found a small pharmacy where I was able to obtain some drugs at the right price. I purchased them then headed back towards the market and the wonderful baguette lady, where I purchased Jack a plain chicken baguette and a tuna one for myself before walking back. I was hoping on getting some Oreos or something to cheer him up but they are so expensive here so stuck with the baguette.
On arriving home I found him sitting up and watching the tv and his eyes widened at the sight of his baguette so I'm guessing he was feeling better. I had bought down a glass of water and gave him the paracetamol and he was soon devouring his food. The next few hours were spent reading and playing with the kittens while Jack dozed and caught up with his sleep. I was going to head out but got so engrossed in my book I lost track of time... I have read so many books in the last few weeks and its been really nice.... Seven in the last month or so. Jacks always calling me Johnny five or what ever that things name is in short circuit.
I eventually dozed off too for a bout an hour then woke to find Jack had retreated to the outside world... Well the veranda where he was online. I made him a coffee and he said he was still feeling a bit heady. He did have goosebumps despite the heat, which was obviously due to the fever so I gave him some more paracetamol and he crawled back to bed. I let him rest and watched a movie as now it was raining lightly so I couldn't head to the sunset on the hill that I was planning on doing. Once the rain had passed it was dark so I decided to venture out there tomorrow night instead. A little later he was feeling peckish so I walked back to town to get him some food... I found the baguette lady and purchased him a nice fat tuna baguette, then got some fresh spring rolls, rice cakes and some Pepsi before walking back to my patient.
He was watching footy on my return and sitting up looking brighter, he soon polished off the baguette and the rice cakes so I wasn't too concerned about him... Think he's got a bit of a virus which normally passes after twenty four hours or so and he doesn't really have any symptoms except a fever and slight headache. Hopefully it will as we have to get moving to our next destination... An early night for him I think.
