10th July-
Woke up to a moving boat... Is kinda weird that the place you are sleeping can just starting moving without you knowing it. Breakfast and then a little reading before falling back asleep.... I have taken too having both morning and afternoon naps. Woke up just as the boat was putting the anchor down. Time for a swim stop. It was beautiful bay we pulled into and swam to the beach that had sand... Well almost sand it is slightly gravel but still the closet to sand we have seen in a while. The water is so clear around these islands. Again you can see all the way to the bottom... It is great. Spent some time in the sun on deck to dry out before lunch. Another nice 3 course lunch. Uni was played in the afternoon till we reached Dubrovnik. The captain sailed past the new port and up too the old port so we could look at the walls and port from the water. They certainly look very imposing and difficult to lay siege against. We docked and caught the bus into the old city. It was really hot and busy so found a nice cafe to sit at and use the wifi and want for it to cool and quieten a little before heading out. Walked along the Stradun, which is the main thoroughfare in the old city looking at a few of the shops. Visited the Dominican Monastery. The main church had an incredibly high ceiling and artworks from different periods in history. The stone work in particular around the central courtyard was beautiful to look at. Contuined to look around the city stopping at the church of st Blaise which had to be largely rebuilt after an earthquake in the late 20th century. Wondered back through the small streets to the entry for the city walls walk. Started the walk at 630pm hoping it would be slightly cooler and it probably was but still very warm. Walked along admiring the spectular views over both the old city and the sea and nearby islands. The walk took just over an hour. Once finished we were hot and hungry so headed out for dinner... Ate an interesting chicken ceaser salad. There was lettuce, tomatoes, olives, chicken topped with a thousand island/ seafood style dressing. It was different. Caught the bus back to the boat. Got ready to go out an caught the bus back into the old city. Bus was at least half full and we just drive into the bus depot and filled up with fuel... No-one blinked about this so assumed it was a normal thing to do. contuined into the old city and walked in and there was a free concert on. It is the start of the summer festival so thousands of people were out. Visited the sky bar and enjoyed a cocktail served in plastic sand bucket. Then it was on to Revelin club. Was heaps of fun dancing away the night.
