To get to Venice from Vienna we booked our first sleeper train which we thought would be fairly cosy. 6 bodies in one compartment isn't a good idea. Especially if youre high on the top bunk where all the hot air rises too. I had no shame it stripping off to my boxers before we even departed. It was so bad and we had a horrible sleep constantly waking up to the sounds of the German below and his 'techno music' mixed in with scissor sisters. Shocking!
We arrived in Venice at 8:30 and it was really very beautiful. We took about 4 hours to walk around again in hot hot heat and we walked all the way down the main canal to the ocean where we paddled.
They do everything by canal. Travel, taxi, ambulance, wheelie bin. It took us 2 hours to find our first car. It was epic. After that and we had eaten we decided we were quite bored as there wasn't anything to do and the narrow streets tire you out. We changed our train to an earlier one and got on that to ROME! Que sera sera.
