We got to our hostel in Vienna around midnightish and got the best room literally opposite reception without going up any stairs. The first thing we did the next morning was get our washing done! No ironing or drying but at least I didn't have to go commando any longer!
In Vienna we set out for Schnitzel and schnapps. We certainly did that and had the worlds biggest Schnitzel at a back street resteraunt that had been making them since 1907. We were tipped off by a local! At night we did something even more cultural. We took in the orchestra which incorporated Vienna state ballet and opera. It was marvellous but probably because we got a little tipsy in the interval and over excitedly got to our feet to applaud at the end of the performance.
When we headed back to the hostel we got more booze and went to another recommended Viennese bar where we had some beer before taking the party elsewhere with new friends we made. A few 2 pint beers and jaegar bombs later we were back at the hostel while Jonny hit the rum again. I love those rare occasions where Jonny gets more intoxicated than I do!
The last day in Vienna we went on a massive walk with our iPods on. Good job I only had one earphone in as I wouldn't have heard the tram honking me as it came up behind while I tried to dive out the road. Luckily I got there in time otherwise there would be one mighty pissed off tram driver. A derailed tram and passenger discomfort would have probably occurred had the tram hit my titanium oxen body. What a relief! A 12 hour train journey was about to occur….
