Isn't it pretty to think so?
alrighty...we are in amsterdam now. last time i wrote, we were in berlin. and about the game, germany lost...and instead cheering and running through the streets singing...hundreds and hundreds of germans were quiet and somber. people were actually crying, grown men were holding each other in disappointment. tv crews were there and photographers captured it all. after berlin, we went over to cologne, germany. walking out of the train station, there is a gigantic cathedral...very dark and detailed. i tried every day to get a picture of it, but it was too big to fit in the frame. so the last day there, i took a picture of part of it. oh well. cologne was a pretty relaxed city. a lot of young people. which, im assuming is because there is a university right in the middle. things got better for the german football fans (meaning, everyone breathing in the city) because they played a game for third place, and won. people ran the streets again and honked horns and cheered and sang football songs. all night. i woke up at 5 am, and people were still celebrating. third place in the world isnt so bad. also...in cologne, this is important...we went to a chocolate museum/factory. there was a chocolate fountain and a woman giving out free samples of their chocolate. yum. i found out what nougat is...finally. and i also now know how they make those hollow chocolates that are in different shapes. but after all this, it was time to leave germany.
now...we are in amsterdam. i have to say...this city is beautiful. ive been to amsterdam before, but its still just as lovely. canals and bridges and bikes everywhere. tall skinny buildings all squished up against each other. we are staying in a nice section, towards the museum and park area. there is of course, the red light district...which is in walking distance and quite the sight. rodger has never been here so it was fun to hear his thoughts and see his face. we just ate breakfast...mmm toast. and now we have a full day here so hopefully next time i write, there will be much more to say. lots and lots of love to everybody!!!
