Hello! Last week whilst we were in Cairns I went snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef and it was absolutely amazing! There were hundreds of fish of rainbow colours and yes we saw Nemo! There were giant clams on the sea floor and lots of soft coral. Still on the edge of the great barrier reef, we stayed on the one of the Whitsunday Islands called Long Island which was like a paradise beach but there were lots of weddings there to go with it! Ten of us then went off on a 2 night sailing trip on a maxi yacht around the Whitsundays which was one of the best things I have done so far, just being on the yacht was great we got to pull the mast and do the grinding, very funny! The first day unfortunately it rained nearly all day and we were clinging onto the side ropes in our lovely yellow rain coats but the second day was blue sky so it made up for it, we did more snorkelling and stopped at an Langford beach which looked deserted. After the Whitsundays we visited the Capricorn Caves where there is a cathedral inside the caves with amazing acoustics. We only stayed one night there before travelling to Fraser Island which was the best place so far. It is the largest sand dune in the world and it is just crazy! You were right em when you said it was like Jurassic park! Unfortunately our bus did break down in the sand but we thought it added to the trip!
Passing quickly through Brisbane, which is a really nice city, everything seems new and quite arty, we headed to the Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise which is where I am now. Its a bit cloudy this morning but hopefully the sun will come out later and we can have a chance to lounge on the beach!
Sorry for the long email, got carried away! Hope everyone is ok back home/Majorca! Speak soon
Lots of love Claire xx
