Well, here we are again - our last day on the north island before travelling over to Picton early tomorrow morning.
A note for Margaret - thanks for sorting out the house. Hope you're getting all these updates and we are having a fantastic time.
David - sorry to hear you're having such bad luck with the car but trust it's soon sorted.
Napier was unusual; very art deco but we had a job getting a coffee because everywhere closed down before 5 pm.
Long journey down to Wellington, but stopped on the way to have a look at a very interesting musuem showing how the settlers arrived, etc. We also visited a winery and had a bit of a tasting session. Bought a couple of bottles to celebrate John's birthday in a couple of days' time.
Wellington is buzzing at the moment, and quite a nice city. The World 7's Rugby competition is on and the pubs are spilling out all sorts of people in fancy dress. Quite an atmosphere.
Weather still fantastic, so we're getting a bit of a tan. In fact, John has shredded one layer of skin which is unusual for him, so it shows you how hot it is.
Will write again after the whale watching experience in a couple of days.
