Hi everyone,
Not so many pictures to show you this time as we have had trouble loading them up. These will have to do for the time being.
Today we travelled from Te Anau to Invercargill in a leisurely fashion. It rained last night (first time of the holiday but it didn't keep us awake much). The highlight of the day was stopping at two lovely little places; one for lunch right by the beach and the other was to buy fish at Riverton. We were told to go to 'Barbara's house' and were directed outside into the garage where she stood in all her glory. We bought the fish (blue cod) and she, of course, asked us where we had come from. She started on about politics and went off on one about their 'bloody homosexual female Prime Minister' and how she was bloody well doing everyone out of a job and shutting down places to keep the greenies happy. It was so funny, we just fell about laughing when we came out because she was so serious. She even switched off her tv every night as she wasn't going to listen to that bloody woman in her bloody sitting room. We are now in Invercargill after visiting Bluff - the southern most point in N.Z. (19000 k from London).
When we arrived at Te Anau we booked a trip to the Glow worm caves at 9pm and it was fantastic. On the way back we had a lovely astrology lesson from a young Kiwi guy as we were looking at the stars. These people are so friendly and we couldn't believe he was prepared to take time chatting to two old birds!
Then yesterday we had our trip to Milford Sound which was great, but a little misty on the way out in the boat. However, the sun came out on the way back and it was just great.
Margaret: glad you are enjoying our stories. Loads to tell you, of course, when we get back. Might have to recuperate before coming back again. You would just love it.
Liz: Sorry about the news regarding your work. You certainly haven't had a lot of luck lately but things can only get better!
Nick: Thanks for your messages and we are glad you also are enjoying our blog. I hope Mags is able to log on and read all about our trip too. For your info - mum is now much better and coming home next Monday, thank goodness!
Will blog one more time in Christchurch, before leaving for Raratonga. We have changed our plans a bit and have cut out visiting Mount Cook as it was such a long way to travel. We will now have two nights in Christchurch to get the van sorted and have a look round.
Love to everyone, and see you all too soon!!
