Bula from Fiji....Well its everything we expected and more...and a tan thrown in to!! What an absolutely amazing place...we all got very much used to the Fijian way very easily. Fiji time means when your ready...there are no time deadlines at all!! If you arrive late it just means you arrived at a different time (good eh,kinda helped me)!! So this mixed with lots of hammocks, beaches, sun, and fantastic people we had a great time!!
We began with a stay in Nadi and a early welcome to Fiji with a 'Kava' ceremony(their local drink) basically muddy water or like licking a tree!! I have to be honest, it was not the best night in my life...we stayed in Nadi bay hotel and shared our room with a ant army and a legion of Mosquitoes. Which layed their attack during the night!! Not pleasant but it was only one night so we were all still smiling knowing we were heading for the Nacula island for 10 days and staying at Nabua lodge after a 4 hour boat journey which cost an arm an a leg!
Our 10 days in Nabua lodge were very enjoyable even though the island was very remote. We also met some great people they included: A couple from middlesborough called Matt and Ellie who we hope to meet at some point in New Zealand; A swiss man called Hans who taught us all a new game called the 'windmill' game which we think has a more technical name but we just went with windmill and also 3 very nice swedish girls whom we shared our 1st xmas party with...on the 8th of December!!Ha always good celebrating early...was a great night with unknown artists singing our favourite xmas tunes!!! Other than that time was taken up by sunbathing, plenty of relaxing and snorkelling which i have to say was magical!! Sights that you may only see a few times in your lifetime...So good!! I actually thought i was turning into a Nemo!! The other person we met was a chap called Langy who was the chef...what a great chap...brought up by his grandparents all his life!! Whatever the situation he was smiling(even when he had a bad toothache)!! Also we all recieved a nice bout of food poisoning and were bed ridden for 2 days....(not pleasant when you cant control the holes at either end)!! Prob the 1st time we had all really thought about home to which was to be understandable!!Even then the locals were brilliant cutting us coconuts and giving us free sprite which was their medical answer for food poisoning!!!
After our 10 day stay there we made our way to Bounty island which was even more like paradise and we all knew that this was where 'Celebrity Love island' was filmed!! We stayed in the dorm there which was still fairly expensive!! We visited the old love shack on the set of the show which was the only thing still standing other than the jetty which i have a photo of!! Was very nice island and only wished we could have afforded more nice there but needed to be realistic about budget and had by this time already agreed that we were leaving Fiji early!
....So after another night in Nadi at a better hostel called the "horizon" we then went to the airport to go on standby for the next flight in which we had to wait 11 hours for!!!Hmm...
Onto Mauri land next....
