Noy's 4th Walkabout
Words and pictures can hardly describe the pleasures of Cradle Mountain Lodge! We indulged in a "Spa Suite", which was a hut in the forest where animals literally walk up to our door and the early morning call is made by a Kookaburra shouting in the trees outside our veranda (which noses into the first trees at the edge of the forest). On the first night we "troughed" in the Tavern (a "pub grub" style restaurant), then went and watched a video about the Tasmanian Devil, followed by and hour of "spotlighting" with our guide, into the National Park. This was great fun as we caught wallabies, possums, wombats (but sadly no Quolls - look 'em up in an encyclopaedia if you're not sure what they are!) in the headlights of our 4x4. Photographing them was NOT so easy (see attempts uploaded!). Thursday we pottered around in the morning, scarce able to get out of bed, it was S-O-O-O comfortable then opted for a guided walk around Dove Lake. 6.5kms later our legs ached so much that the spa bath got a good work out and there WAS room for two - 'nuff said! Hope you all blooming well and have got used to our nomadic style of sporadic writing. There was NO internet access on Tassie that Richard could use to upload the "stuff" we'd created for you, so you've got two loads now and another, hopefully, when we get back from Corowa and before we leave for New Zealand next Wednesday.
