Hannah did not have a hangover after the night in the bar, but she was very dehydrated. However, we went to breakfast which is in an outdoor poolside bar at the hotel. We opted for melon, followed by sausage and eggs and toast (apparently, american breakfast - Indonesian, which is rice, and Continental, which is toast only, were all available). The sausages were not pork, that's for sure, and were strangely spiced, yet edible. We noted that a chubby Aussie couple managed to get a plate with loads of other goodies on, so we're getting that tomorrow!
After brekkie, we went for a swim in the pool which was rather lovely. However, this meant Hannah got her hair wet and it is now the size of a whole other human being due to humidity.
Decided to walk down to the shops in Kuta, where the hawkers were very aggressive, today Nik was offered Viagra three times more, and people kept offering him tattoos. One fella said 'big man, small tattoo' re the sex panther, but then saw the gangster lettering on his back and apologised. Ha.
We went to the beach and paddled and walked in the sea all the way along to Legian. The shells are amazing and there are two sorts of little crab. One kind that literally suck themselves into the sand, and one kind that whirl round and round and leave a weird pattern on the surface.
After a short spot of sunbathing, we walked back to Poppies Lane 2, which is a less aggressive hawker street, and Nik got board shorts and Hannah got a cool hat. Although a monkey in a waistcoat tried to touch Hannah's leg. Not cool.
Then there was time for more beers (where the bar man told Nik he liked his hair) before dangling feet in the pool and soaking up the last of the sun. It's not rained since this morning and has been 30 degrees all day. We are both sporting interesting tan lines!
For dinner, we went in search of a food market that did not exist and was instead a building site, however we did manage to find a place that served actual Indonesian food (mostly here it is pizza and burgers) and had some sort of amazing rice and veg dish with chicken and omlette and the worlds hottest dip. It cost £2 each, plus Bali Hai beers our meal was £7. Could get used to that! Although we had to endure an Australian woman singing karaoke while we ate.."welcome to the hotel adu dharma..such a loverly place".
While Nik was walking to the shops he was offered transport, however the man behind him was offered transport? dirty girls? So at least he looks like a married man to the hawkers. Also at the shops we learned that you can get a pot noodle and they give you hot water, genius.
We had an early night as Hannah overheated and headed back to the cottage and watched Indonesian Idol. Our favourite was Citra.
