We were quite tired from the karaoke so the next day we went to Ueno Zoo, which was apparently the best thing ever to the boys. Well, it did have polar bears, rhinos, hippos, gorillas and tigers etc. but the panda they used to have died last year. It used to be their main attraction apparently. It was worth the 600 yen, so if you're ever around there, go! We then went to Ginza to see the high life and got some good pics of nice buildings.
Next day we went to Asakusa, mainly Senso-ji, the temple in Asakusa. It was nice, a bit crowded and commercialized, but still a pretty temple area so we enjoyed it. I also got my fortune told by a stick, which said that I would have good fortune in future but should refrain from travelling and working... nice. So I made a donation and lit a candle so our trip would go well.
We then continued on back to Ginza to see what's inside the Sony Building. Nothing too surprising as you would expect it to have loads of cameras etc. there for all to see. After Sony it was time for the emperor... we went to see what's the palace like this year, well, pretty as it was last year. The garden is just amazing (and huge)!
We woke up late next morning and decided to go and see Nekobukuro in Ikebukuro. It's a place where you can pet cats for 600 yen (or 1000 yen if you're a couple). It was so nice to see about 20 cats sleeping and playing all over. I would've wanted to grab them all and take them home but Miika is allergic so I don't think that would be such a good idea. We also shopped for some beef jerky for Max in the petshop next door. Oh, and I found me a Pocari Sweat bottle downstairs in Tokyu Hands.
On our way to Sunshine City (still in Ikebukuro) my mom phoned Miika and informed us that I had in fact got in to HSE. Yay!!! We then returned to Hotel Edoya for a while and then back to Ikebukuro station to find Tommi... but we didn't find him so we had some dinner at a pricey Yokohama-style eatery and went back to the hotel... where Tommi already was.
On our last day in Tokyo we went to Yomiuriland (amusement and water park). It was ok but there weren't as many slides as we would've wished for. Probably Tokyo Summerland would've have been a better option but it would've also cost us more and it is futher away as well. We had dinner at our hotel (or Umejaya, the restaurant in our hotel) as we got it for free for staying there for 5 nights in a month. It was huge and great!!! Sadly the place was very empty so I don't know how they're doing... We then went on a walk in Ueno koen as it was a festival (matsuri) night.. although we still don't know which festival.
Now we're in Kawaguchi-ko just as last year. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the place but it's quite boring for me to come here as I did see everything already last year and didn't think this place is that great to hang around in for too long. I wish we would've spent this time in Kyoto instead. Anyway, Tommi climbed Fuji last night (while we were chatting with some Dutch people with Miika) and so I believe I don't have to come here again for a while. The weather's been nice, not too hot at all so it was quite nice to just wander around. We actually rented a pedal boat (shaped like a panda) and went around Lake Kawaguchi-ko.
