Goodbye Vietnam Hello Cambodia
I tell ya nothing like a cold shower at 5.30am to get you going in the morning. We had our breakfasted at 6.30am and waved bye to the floating hotel at 7am. We were all brought to a Fish farm which was interesting as there were 80,000 fish in an area 5meters deep, 10 x 20 meters wide, and by god they were hungry. They were like piranhas when they were given food. All these houses were floating on top of the water and underneath was 80,000 fish caged. Madness. Fresh fish everyday though, but the river was brown so it might not be a good thing. After this we were brought to Cham minority village which was on the river too. Myself and George only had 5 minutes here so we both bought scarf's as it would be our last purchase in this fabulous country. We were led onto a new boat called the fast boat, and yes I took off like a rocket to the Cambodian Boarder. We stopped just before it though to get our passports stamped. While a guy on the boat went and did this a group of young girls came on the boat trying to sell us currency, water, food etc it was gas they stayed on for ages one of them just sitting beside me convincing me I need another bottle of water. Didn't work!
Goodbye Vietnam. We got off at the boarder to pay for our visas. Then 4 hours on the boat to get to Phenom Penh. On the way I saw loads of boney cows and waving children and people washing cows in the river. When we arrived on the doc like flies on s*** we were swarmed by, "moto bike" "you want taxi" "cheap ride" etc. I gave into one who brought us to our hotel for $5 rip off as we later found out no bloody meter here you see so $5 will have to do. Got to our mansion sized room wit crazy high ceilings, Airy!! We headed out to investigate this new land. Quite, dull and dirty is what we found. We explored and found that Cambodia was different big time from Vietnam. We got ourselves some local grub and headed to a pagoda and then the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. Very Very nice, the palace is huge and the pagoda was amazing, the surroundings were pretty but the rain came to stain our views. Walked about in and out of shops you now the usual. I did my washing and chilled I suppose it was a long day and I was tired. The anniversary of 9/1 was today we watched the film.
