So I am now back in Chiang mai.....

Pai was a bit of a disaster in the end! First of all it literally never stopped raining so I was constantly trapped inside somewhere. Then the electricity is always off too which is fine during the day but not when you go into your bathroom, scare a lizard which runs into your room so you run around screaming....then the lights go off!! They were off for about 10 mins and the lizard was just sitting there waiting for me so I managed to scare him back into the bathroom where he was later joined by his buddies for some lizard convention...not cool!!

So I had to face that while I was getting ready, then I washed my hair and the lights went off for 45 mins so I just sat there in the dark and waited! Finally I was able to go out at 8:30pm and went to have dinner but the bloody ting tong guy wanted to eat with me and I wouldn't meet any other travellers if I sat with him so I said I was going for a walk first. Of course he wanted to come on that too so I said I was going on the net and then ran into a restuarant when he wasn't looking!

All was going well I was eating my pad thai then another thai guy who was flyering came and spoke to me. He was nice enough and took me to meet his friends who were all travellers, but they turned out to be major hippies. I spent the night in a bar with those guys but it was pretty boring.

The next morning it was raining again and there was no electricity so I checked the forecast for Chiang mai and its all sunshine so I booked a bus for the next day.

I decided to have my first massage in Thailand as I couldn;t do anything else. I said I just wanted a back one because I couldn't bear them touching my feet but the second I got in there some little Thai girl had my feet in a bowl of water and was massaging them, I almost puked! I was literally sweating like mad!!

Then I went through for the massage and this little old lady came in but she literally almost killed me. I thought I was going to start crying at one point, it was so bloody painful. Then she was massaging my arms and legs AND STARTED ON MY FEET AGAIN!! Then to finish it all off she made me sit up and tried to break my back over her knee!! All that fun for only 3 pound, never again!! I was going to do a massage course but I don't think I would be strong enough or mean enough to inflict that on my enemy!! My back is so sore today I think she has actually bruised me!

So I got the bus to Chiang mai this morning and its soo hot and no sign of rain which is good. I have booked into a 'hotel' which I was expecting to be pretty nice but its about 200 years old and horrible dark wood furnishings everywhere! There was a cockroach in my bathroom and then another one came. I wouldn't be bothered at all if they ran away when you go near them but these ones are mental. I went stomping into the bathroom and they just ran towards me so I had to admit defeat and ask to move rooms. I went into the new room and there was one in that bathroom too but the bell boy guy just went in and crunched it, which I'm sure is the thing your not supposed to do because it releases there eggs but its done now!!

Anyway I only have 2 more days in the cockrach pit and then I move on to Laos which is probably even worse!!

I'm going to strabucks now for cake and tea which is a mjor treat because its bloody expensive!
