School finished yesterday so today is not just the first day of the school holidays but is also the first day of this next "stage" of my life....the real adventure of course starts 4 weeks tomorrow when I'll be getting on my plane to Colombia. However before then I have several more weeks of catching up with friends and family....so far there have been 4 leaving dos (plus a cheesy 70s and 80s night out, not an actual leaving night out, but a fond farewell to one of my favourite nights out!) and more to come!
I felt sad to finish work yesterday (it didn't feel like 5 years since I'd started!) and I'm sure more tears will be shed in the coming weeks BUT I know I have some fantastic, exciting times ahead....
I keep thinking I should do some planning, but that's the beauty of this trip, without the constraints of holidays I can go with the motto "the plan is no plan"...ok, so I have an idea of the route I may take, but nothing at all is set, except for my entry to Colombia on 18th August!
So, I needn't worry too much about trip planning as such, but really must start getting organised for the trip.....now that school has finished I should have time to start doing what I need to do in preparation:
1) packing up stuff for storage- though luckily I did most of that at Easter (I hated it at the time but am soooo glad now that the bulk of it is done!)
2) shopping- what do I 'need' for the trip?
3) other important things like insurance, etc
But I'll need to fit it around the busy social calendar; with more farewells to come before I leave Manchester at the end of the month, it's looking like I'll be quite busy!
