Got the early bus (6.15am) on Wednesday as planned- an early start! Bus took about 5 hours to get to Popayán and was a pretty bumpy road! Well at least the first half of the journey was - 5 hours to travel 62 miles/100km! Luckily no landslides and we arrived safely in Popayán. I spent Monday (7th) visiting the sites of Tierradentro, a second archaeological park, described in my guidebook as being well off the standard tourist trail but worth the trip. It's said that the rough ride to get here is worth it! And I had planned to visit as part of my visit in this area (the desert, San Agustin and Tierradentro). I hoped for a decent journey to get here but was ready for missed connections as I knew it was at least 3 transports to get there....

Well, I've once again ended up staying longer than I thought I would- have just really enjoyed being here at Casa de François in San Agustin as it's such a relaxing place! I have spent some time seeing the sites but have also spent time just relaxing, reading in a hammock, chatting with other travellers…..and nothing much else! I thought I would leave on Friday but now plan on moving on on Monday. They do great food here in their restaurant so I've eaten there...

NB- will add a desert picture later, having trouble uploading at the mo On Friday (28th) I travelled to Neiva, I had hoped to make it to the town of Villa Vieja and gateway to the desert "el Desierto de la Tatacoa" but the bus set off late meaning it arrived late and turns out I had just missed the minibus out to Villa Vieja- annoying! Particularly as everyone was sat on the bus waiting to leave from just after 10am but it didn't go anywhere til 10.30!...

I write this whilst lying in a hammock outside my cabana in the 'Desierto de la Tatacoa'- using a computer in a place where there is no electricity is kind of strange but the battery is fully charged and it's a good opportunity to catch up whilst enjoying the tranquillity of this place :-) For now though I need to catch up on SALENTO where I spent a f...
