Nikki's Travels
Hello!
Have arrived safely in Hong Kong and so far loving every minute, its 22 degrees and there are shops, markets and food places everywhere whats not too like!
Hong Kong is definetely one of those cities which never sleeps, and thus so far nor have we much thanks to our convienently positioned yet noisy hostel based right above the busseling highstreet of Kowloon.
Contrary to the popular belief of my family back home i seem to be adapting to this travelling malarky quite well.... i've swopped my handbags, high heels and straightners for rucksacks, trainers and crap hair! The hostel is fantastically positioned and is managed by brilliant people but its no Ritz but rather modified type prison cells with a hose over the toilet for a shower! importantly thou its cheap and good fun.
Yesterday we shopped around the ladies market just near our hostel and got into the spirit of things haggeling with the stall owners over sunglasses and dodgy watches (my new Calvin Klien one broke within 10 minutes! lucky thou it only cost 2 pound - i think!)
Today we visited the brass budda and monastry which was absolutely brilliant, we even saw some proper monks in ceremony. I'm trying to upload some photos so hopefully you'll get to see how large the big man is!
Tomorrow its Hong Kong central for a ferry and tram ride around the city. We fly out to New Zealand on Friday so i'll be in touch again then.
Miss you all, speak soon
Nikki xx
