Nikki's World Travels
Wow long time since i posted anything - opps!! Anyhoo, Ill catch you uall up with my goings on since the bottom bus! Left queenstown for the second time as cos of the way the buses run i had to go thru christchurch and kaikoura again so nada to report from those two. So After kaikoura got on the boat from Picton to Wellington with deanna and yvonne. Boat was kinda long and boring so again nada to report. Got to wellington and stayed in the YHA - v nice hostel. In the evening we watched "heavenly creatures" which was absolutely stupid (a french guy picked it so that explains everything!) - so no dont watch it! Next day me and yvonne headed to Te Papa - a really famous museum explaining the way in which europeans came to NZ and the maori culture already established there etc. Really amazing place and the maori arts are so beautiful. On the way back from the museum i saw the most amazing thing that a british person could see after travelling for 7 months - the name shone like twinkilng stars in the sky and it said "cool britannia" and inside it had everything that i could ever have wished for jaffa cakes, quavers, walkers, angel delight, thorntons etc so after gettin very excited in the shop i only bought some quavers - how good of me!!
Next day I went up in the cable car (see pic top of page) to have a look at the view and also went to see some of the parliament buildings - one of which is shaped as a beehive and quite aptly is called "the beehive"!! In the arvo my cousin, Kevin, picked me up and took me to see Mt victoria view point before going back to his in parparangi where i met his new wife, alison, and her kids danielle and jen. So had a lovely meal with them and spent evening chatting before heading to bed. Had one amazing sleep (it must have been the pooh bear duvet cover - felt just like home!) before gettin up the next day to watch whale rider (such a great film - everyone go rent it now!) and assembling a trampoline for kevins kids (my 2nd cousins? cousins once removed? i dont know the technicalities!). In evening went back to hostel and watched some commonwealth games stuff.
Next day, potted around in morning then went with kevin and alison to pick up georgia and maddison from school. So hung around with them in the arvo (such cute kids!) and got take out in the evening after watching jen have her piano practice (keep up the practising jen!!). So that was pretty much my time in wellington as the next day i got the bus out of there further up north. Actually funny story there as i was waiting outside the yha with a load of ppl about 7.40am when bus was to leave at 8am and when it got to 8am the bus wasnt there then i see this great big bus emnerge from further up the road and whizz straight passed me as the magic bus drives up. So i was like s*** i had waited with magic bus ppl without realizing and my bus had just left without me (in my defence the bus is normally bright green and this one was white!) so got on my phone very quick and rang kiwi bus and was like my bus has driven straight passed me - ahh!!! Luckily he turned around and came back - doh!!
So anyway, wellington was a lovely city and i had so much fun meeting my cousins and his now extended family (thanks again kevin and alison for everything!).
Next stop taupo.
love me
