It's my birthday!!! Woke up to an exciting door knock which was beautiful flowers and a massive cake being delivered to the hotel room from Lisa and Tom! Was very exciting! Especially when we bit into the cake for breakfast and discovered instead of cream the filling was Dulche de Leche - my favourite South American treat - a kind of caramel sickly sweet goo!! After breakfast we headed into the main Plaza which has a beautifu square and is surrounded by spectacular buildings which are all painted white - the law in Sucre! In the afternoon we headed off on the one and only Dino Tour!! A very cool truck with massive claws on the front picked us up and drove us the 20 min ride out to a concrete factory / quarry site just outside of Sucre. Upon arrival you are taken on a tour of the dino park - very cool big concrete dinosours - and told a little about each one. After this you head to the viewing platform where you can see real life dinosour footprints - they are up to 84cm wide and pretty clear given the distance. One of the tracks is the longest continuous track discovered! We finished the trip with an essential chocolate dinosour lollipop! Although no disney style rides I was still loving the dinosours and appear to have made Tom (the chief photographer of the day-he had to pay for the right!) take rather more pictures than anyone else! Birthday excitement was finished off with a bottle of raspberry vodka and dancing in the room before a nice meal in the plaza.
Our second day in Sucre should have been the last, we planned to get some jobs done and hop on the 12 hour overnight bus to La Paz. Unfortunately Lisa got sick, and following a doctor visit was hooked up to a drip suspended by a shoelace from the hotel lamp above her bed!! After an injection in her bum the next day the doctor assures us she's on her way to recovery and so heading to La Paz tonight ready to mountain bike down the death road!
