Foster's Tour
Reeeet then, i will try again.
The last time i posted i was in Ao Nang about to leave for Koh Lanta, i think.
Koh lanta was stunning and very relaxing, We (Kristina, Jen and Henry) stayed on Long beach, which was supposed to be one of the best, and i can imagin it was. The place was very quiet and the sun set over the sea. The view from the hotel (check the pics) was stunning and the lenght of the beach was fronted by little bar/resturants. We spent most of our days walking and relaxing on the beach, we spent 2 days there and it was just what we needed as the next few days would be madness. We arranged to go from Koh Lanta (west coast) to Koh Samui (east coast) and we were due to be picked up at 7am great !! the trip wasn't too bad and we arrived in Koh Samui at about 7pm.
We had pre booked somewhere to stay but didnt really know where it was just that it was 10 min walk to the beach so we jumped on a songtow (Pickup style taxi with no sides but a roof) and headed for beach road, little did we know/remember that it was the Thai new years eve and as you will see from the pics they celebrate by throwing water and white powder over every one, just b4 we hit beach road 3 girls jumped on all glamed up ready 4 a night out hahaha they got drenched, unlucky. we did too of course. It took us a while but eventually found it soaked to the bone. the place was a very nice family run place and they had upgraded our rooms for free, result. we dropped our bags and with the advice of the hotel owners stayed in the wet clothes we were in and headed back to the main road. The night was in full flow so me and kristina both purchased Water bazoookas (water guns just wouldnt cut it) and joined in the fun. we looked around for some where that would let us sit down and eat as again we were drenched, then went on to find the main bar street which is a massive U shaped road with bars on either side. Each bar had a tanker of water in front of it and a hose pipe re-filling it and the whole place was one massive water fight with people using anything they could get there hands on to throw water, bars were having wars with the opposite bar it was carnage. The others decided to head of to bed about 12 but i stayed out (big kid) and continued drinking and having fun. Met loads of people inc some isralians and some Thai Bar owners, i crawled in about 3am.
The next morning being the early bird i am i woke up about 10 and decided to go for a walk, The hotel owner told me that as it was new years day it was going to be even worse and progress more and more untill about 7pm, (just what i needed with a hang over) he was soooo right it's a national thing in Thailand not just local so the entire island was out in the street having water fights (check the pics) it was soo much fun, we just walked up and down the street all day fighting, then walked back to the hotel via the beach which was nice but a little busy and touristy. Koh Samui although very nice is much more for the 2 week holiday makers and it shows with extravagant hotels and resturants.
We had arranged for a speed boat to take us over to Koh Pang Ngan (for the full moon party) at 9pm and it would return every hour from 5am. I went over in flip flops, shorts and my only authentic billabong vest, and we took 1 disposable camera. Once we docked we could see just how busy this place was, this night was going to be BIG. we followed the masses of people almost to the beach, but we stopped for a few drinks 1st. We entered one bar and as usual we took our flip flops off (as you do in most places in Thailand) and the others settled for a drink while i poped over the street to buy some paint and get all painted up in fluresent green, purple and orange paint, all over my arms, legs and face i looked good !!! good enough for the cover of GQ magazine !!! i popped back over the road and helped paint the other guys. we went to leave and i noticed that my flip flops had gone missing....SOME ONE HAD TAKEN.....NO STOLEN MY FLIP FLOPS !! who would do this ?? why why i mean come on !! flip flops. i had to go to a shop and buy some more gggrrrr. we continued on and founf a bar that was like no other. It was packed but sooo much fun it played every top R&B and Rock song ever the place had such a good vibe to it, but i was soooo hot i joined every one else and took my vest off and tucked it into my trusty shorts. Im going to honest it was a little moist in there but prob the best bar/club i have ever been to ever, every one was going mad and dancing like there was no tommorow we didnt want to leave. We continued onto the beach, and nothing i had read or seen could compare to what we saw, the entire length of the beach (and its a long beach) was covered with people and fronted by either a bar or a sound system. We settled ourselfs in front of a fire eating and juggling show and each inturn wondered off on our own up and down the beach dancing as we went, returning to the same spot to chat and rest. Quite late on me and Kristina bumped into each other and danced infront of a bar for a while b4 heading back to were Jen had been chatting to some random guy, only to find her asleep hahah. we took some comedy pics with her camera and placed it back in her hand, then wondered down to the sea to have a sand and water fight.
About 5am we woke a very very drunk jen up and staggered her back to the dock. Me and kristina jumped on the boat and quickly realised that we were both jen and Henry short, jen was still stuggling up the road and we haddn't seen henry for about 3 hours, we rushed jen on the boat and set off. Back at Samui the boat to dock just keeps going till it gets stuck on the sand, to get off you have to jump from the front of the boat down onto the sand/sea once off me and Kristina turnned around to see again a very drunk jen about to leave, we started to laugh and shouted "gracefully Jen, like a lady" at the point she fell head first off the boat onto the sand/sea.....oh boy we laughted so hard that i couldnt open my eyes to even she if she was ok...im laughing now. Once back we put Jen in the hotel and headed off to find some food. after a burger king we decided to get a motor bike taxi back to the hotel, this was such a laugh 3 people (2 drunk) on the back of a motor bike and me making loud bike and wheel screaching noises in the drivers ear all the way back hahaha. The next day again i was up early so just spent the day walking and tinternetting while the rest slept till 5pm yes 5pm Henry it turns out had come back b4 us and relaised no one was in so had walked for 2 hours in random directions, we had lost the only camera we had and i had lost my authentic vest (not forgetting my FLIP FLOPS) and for the following days we were all covered in non-removable paint, getting very strange looks indeed.
We arranged to leave the following day to head down into Malaysia to Kuala Lumpar (KL), Henry was going back up through Thailand, again the bus would pick us up at 6:30 and we wouldnt arrive till 5am the following day (23 hour journey...awsome just what we needed) The journey would involve mini busses, pick up vans, coaches, ferrys, and a vip coach. The worse was the longest coach that had crap plasic seats and s*** (sorry mum) aircon and the bus was hotter than the sun. Kristina chose this point to offer me a melted chocolait bar that tasted of soil. I Shouted at her through my teath and warned her never to offer me warm, soil tasing chocolait on a bus hotter that the sun again....she got the point.
On the way we picked up a newcastle lad called Andrew (to be honest he was a little strange), togther we found a place (recomended by The guide books) and checked in..... It was like Prison !! the walls were stone half painted white and half gray, the floor was stone and the rooms very small. I spent half the night with one eye on andrew making sure he wasnt going to try and kill me (ive seen the films). The next day we check our selfs out and into a very plush hotel around the corner (i had my own safe room). Spent the next few days seeing the orchid garden(a bit rubish and most of it closed) and shopping at the Patronas Towers, that place was a massive 6 floor shopping centre and the twin tower you can see in the distance on the above pic. Oh and we also went to see Ice age 2...very funny. We spent 2 days there and just as we were leaving spotted a place called Time Square which after checking is the largest shopping centre in south east asia with a roller coaster and theme park inside, we were gutted we missed it but i would of prob been coming home early if i had gone.
We took a very nice vip bus down 5 hours to Singapore (without Andrew). It had huge reclining massage chairs with a remote for your choice of massage, a tv showing films and an attendent serving free food and drinks all for the cost of 16 of the good queens pounds. We decided to look for some where to stay in little India and found a nice clean new Backpackers with 6 bed dorms, i had a couple of germans and some english guys in mine and they were all ok by me. The first day we went to the orcihd gardens and shopping on Orchid street (which has the largest concentration of shops in the world !!) again we went to the pics to see a japanise film called Reincarnation, its my the makers of The Ring and the producer of The Grudge. It was very scary, and thats saying something because as you all know i dont get scared easy !! its true !!
The next day we went to Singapore zoo which was cool (check the pics) every typeof animal you can think of, and then crossed to road to get some thing to eat at 7:30pm ish b4 going to the Night Sufari (cant spell remember) which was also cool especially the Animal show. One thing we all noticed was how much space the animals had and how they all seamed to be very well treated a good dat had by all.
The following days were spent looking round China town and Sentosa Island. sentosa Island is a big man made island including imported sand with attractions all over. I hated it here, its soo false and full of indian and japanise tour groups and the rides were cr@p, the only one we all enjoyed was the 4d cinema, its like 3d but the chairs move and water gets sprayed in your face when it hits the screen and when some crabs get loose you feel puffs of air hitting the back of your legs, the whole place freaked out it was a laugh.
But now im alone again as Jen and Kristina have gone onto Bali. I have had 2 days to my self and am heading to Bali later today and will prob meet up with them for 2 days b4 they head off to Cairne. Looking forward to getting back to beach life in bali but even more so to settleing down at Pauls in oz, and not having the feeling that i have to cram every thing a city has to offer in 3 days.
