Day 7
Up nice and early today ready for the crossing. After getting the shipping forecast we decided we would move the boat. The forecast wasn’t great but looking ok, so we thought at the worst we would be able to get further up the coast to Cala Rajata. We had to pack everything away that would be likely to move about on the journey. We started the boat up and undoing the ropes, by this time we had quite an audience most we have ever had. Fortunately there weren’t any other boats either side of us so our departure went very smoothly. As we pulled away everybody was waving to us. Me and Mary said it may not be for long because if we don’t like the sea conditions we were coming straight back in, We would just have to leave it long enough that had audience had had disappeared! We got out to sea and the waves weren’t too bad .9 of a meter, so we carried on to Calas Molto. It took us 1.5 hours to get there. We stopped to have lunch and the boys and Nigel went in the sea. We left the Cala at 3pm; the forecast was better later on than earlier in the day. We had a fantastic crossing and what made it even better was that we saw dolphins. At 5pm we arrived at Ciutudella. We spent about 20mins trying to get hold of someone on the vhf radio. We eventually found out that no one had any berths for the evening. We then carried on down the coast to try to find somewhere to anchor. There were no sheltered berths and as the sea was quite rolly we decided to carry on to Mahon. We arrived in Mahon at 7pm. We were on a floating pontoon, so this meant we had to use our tender to get into shore. By the time we had tied up, and showered it was 10.30 before we left the boat. We found a restaurant close by and had a really nice meal, and friendly staff, we left around 12pm and came straight back to the boat. It had been a long day!
