Hi! Sorry I've taken so long to post, we have no internet at camp and limited phone access.
I finally arrived in Buffalo on the 23rd of June, after a terrible time at New York airport and a long bus journey due to a cancled flight. On the Friday I met the rest of the staff who arrived in the afternoon, everyone is very loud and we all have to have camp names that everyone and the children use. Mine is Peppa but the Americans did not know who Peppa Pig is so I had to explain! There are 13 other internationals mostly from UK and others from Australia, Poland and Hong Kong.
The site is huge, there are various different units with cabins that have canvas walls and tin roofs. There is a pool, lake, stables, ropes course and arts and crafts center. We spent the week training and learing about how to look after the kids, first aid, health and safety ect. Some parts were pretty boring but others were interesting. We had a few cookouts and campfires with songs and smores. Smores are amazing! You melt a marshmellow and sandwich it between chocolate and crackers.
At the moment I am at a friends house who I am working with for the weekend. Yesterday she took me to Niagra Falls and out on her speed boat on the Niagra river and Lake Erie. Today I have been in the pool and just chilling out before a busy week next week when all the kids arrive. Having a BBQ this evening to celebrate fourth of July on Monday. I shall try get some pictures up and update when I can
Miss you all
Nicole :) xxxx
