Treasure Map
Today I have been sight-seeing and doing some touristy stuff. I walked to the water and along the waterfront and ended up at Pier 39 where I had lunch overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the local sealion colony. After lunch, I went to Coit Tower, which has wicked views over the whole city.
My hostel - the Green Tortoise - is located in what I imagine is the Soho of San Fran, that is, between Chinatown and the Red Light district.
I've been reading up on the history of the city and it's facinating. I would definately like to come back here for longer at another time. Parts of it really remind me of Amsterdam, London and Paris - I didn't expect it to feel so European.
It is Chinese New Year this weekend, so I'm really looking forward to that. San Fran has the largest Chinatown outside of China and New York and they have a massive parade and fireworks.
I've also booked an organised tour for Tuesday, which is my last day here, so that I can chill out for a bit but not miss any of the 'sights' either.
