I had to get up today at 3am. We were taking a 4 hour bus ride to the Condor peak. The Incas worshiped condors because they were the animals of the upper world (the puma is the middle world, and the snake is the underworld). Here was the only spot where condors emerged for everyone to see...
My trek to Colca Canyon was 2 days. In my group were two guides (Gelmond and Erika), Eyal (a guy from Isreal), and a couple from Quebec (Philippe and Caroline). I liked the fact that our group was small and intimate. After seeing the magnificent creatures of up to 2 meters long, we headed back in the bus to our trekking start.
The trek was mostly downhill since we were walking towards out camp site down in an oasis between two huge mountains. It was interesting to see that we were trekking through a desert with Cactuses while down below there was so much green vegitation and water!
I really wasn't feeling well during the trek, but I survived all the way to our campsite. There, we met up with a large group of other quebecers! It was like everyone was from Quebec! We all put our feet in the large pool (which felt great!). All of us were talking in French, which made me feel that I was back home, and not in Peru!
The campsite was really nice with comfy beds (not tents!). All of us went to bed right after supper (since we had all gotten up very early). Hopefully, the sleep was going to make me feel better...
