The bus ride was not as bad as I expected it to be. There was a really nice guy that was sitting next to me all the way to La Serena, and then there was another really nice guy that came on board. I find Chileans really friendly!
I ended up watching a really cute Chilean movie on the bus about an old man that likes an old woman but is afraid to get in bed with her because he is impotent. In the meantime, the old woman likes the old man back, but thinks that he is gay because he won't become intimate with her...isn't it cute?
I was beginning to realize how expensive Chile was. I had already blew 200$ and it had been 3 days I was in Chile...I finally got to Santiago at 6pm and when I got there, I had a smile on my face from cheek to cheek. I was in a big metropolitan city! I was near civilization! I was in a city that I am familiar with! There was a metro system, big buildings, lots of cars! I began to realize how much of a city boy I was...
I took the metro to my hostel I found that the metro here was much more advanced and cleaner than any other big city that I have been in. I met these canadians from Toronto on the metro. They spotted me because of my canadian flags on my bags. We had a short conversation about my trip (how long, why, where...). I got off at Salvador metro station, my stop. My hostel was only 5 minutes walking distance from the metro.
When I got there, I met with the two guys that worked there: Christian and Fernando. I had them do my laundry (which was all my clothes that I had except the clothes that I was wearing!). After settling in, I had to go to the bathroom (#2). It was so weird, because I had so many empanadas in San Pedro, my poo smelt like empanadas!!! After this wonderful exprience, I went for supper about 20 minutes walking distance away. Supper cost me 6$!!! This was the most expensive I have ever paid during my trip, and apparently it was the cheapest restaurant in the block!
It was really nice though. I got to see the difference in terms of service between Chile and Peru/Bolivia. Here, the food comes quickly, and the waiter asks you if everything is good with the food! I never got that before! After supper, I was feeling exhausted! Although I slept fine in the bus, I was still really tired so I went to bed around 10pm.
