Discalimer: Unfortunetly, this will be my last blog entry for this is the last day of my trip. Thank you to all those that have took the time to read this blog.
I was meeting Natalia today at 10:30am today. She was going to take me out to try Feijoada (a typical Brazilian dish with African influences). I invited Peter to come with us since he had never tried Feijoada either.
Because it was still early, Natalia took us to more famous sites in Sao Paulo, notably the Edificio Italia, a really tall buiding that has an amzing view of the city. Afterwards, Natalia took us to the place that she says has the best Feijoada. It was at a tennis club. The place looked really fancy, and was a buffet for 20 Reals. The food was really amzing, and was probably the best food that I tried in Brazil.
At 2pm, I had to say goodbye to Natalia since she had a class. Peter and I went back to the hostel where I went on the internet and tried to update my blog a bit more. I was done packing and was ready to go. Before going to the airport, I met up with Renata to say goodbye for the last time as well.
At 7pm, I was off to the airport to go back home. My flight was at 11:20pm, but I was told that because of traffic and the fact that Sao Paulo is a huge airport, I was better off going really early. Once I was on the plane I just started to think again about my trip, and how it changed me. The person that left to go to South America is dead, I am definitely a new person.
I was very cynical about the human nature. I lost hope, gave up on the idea that humans are naturally good and caring. People these days only do things because they want something in return. I got to realize that not everyone in this world is like that. I met some amazing people on this journey. Some that took a leap of faith and trusted me even though they did not know me that well. Others that just devoted their time to show me around their city, a city that they were so passionate about. I may have travelled by myself, however throughout this whole trip I have never felt alone, and this was thanks to all of the people that I met along the may whether they be locals or other travellers that were just passing by.
I have made some amazing friends, friends who I think will be lifelong friends. I got to see, through volunteering that you can have nothing, but as long as you have someone loving you, taking care of you, believing in you, that is worth more than the most expensive things in the world. Tears rolled down my cheeks, tears that I could not stop. I was going to truly miss everyone that I have met, because had it been not for them, I would have not enjoyed the places that I visited. While I was thinking of all of this, there was but one song that kept on playing in the background of my mind:
El amor es una magia
Una simple fantasia
Es como un sueño y al fin lo encontree
Es como una luz
que se esparse por el alma
y recorre como el agua
hasta que llena el corazon
Y va creciendo y creciendo como nubes en el cielo
dando vueltas por el mundo es increible asi es el amor
y al fin lo encontre
El amor te ciega, aunque aveces te engaña
el amor es pureza, si es que a alguien tu amas
el amor te atrapa y de ahi nunca escaparas
solo tienes que aprender amar amar!
