I booked to go and see the pengiun parade at phillips island but before we got there we went to a wildlife park. Yes I have arrived in Australia!! I fed Wallabies, Kangaroos, Emu's and stroked a Koala, it was amazing. We went to see some baby pengiuns first before watching the parade. They are the smallest penguins, only about 30cms in height, they are blue as well, so cute. We took our place on the beach waiting for them to come out in big groups across the sand. They waited until there were about 30 of them to walk across the beach from the sea, we then followed them up the path where they look for their homes and babies. We were there for about 2hours it was great. Some of them had to walk through the car park to get to their homes so you had to check under your wheels before driving off. I have seen it on TV so it was good to go and watch it for real. Went to the Thai consulate to get my visa which was free, saved me $94 which was good. Had a free ticket to go up the sky tower, it was a good way to see the whole of Melbourne without having to walk around. I went out in a glass box that moved 3 metres out from the tower, it was pretty scary. Had a walk around the shops but really hot.
Went on tour of the Great Ocean Road, I am sorry but none of the views beat New Zealand. I would recommend if you are going travelling do Australia first as you get spoilt by the beauty of New Zealand. The views were stunning and we saw some wild Koala's and Wallabies which was nice but didn't top NZ. We stopped to feed these birds, they were landing all over me, they were like colourful parrots, You can see when I upload the photos, I had 3 on me at one point. I saw the 12 apostles and london bridge.
Spent my last day in Melbourne relaxing on the beach and then met one of the girls I met in New Zealand for a drink. Wasn't a late night as my bus leaves at 6.30 the next morning to Sydney.
The bus was an hour late, not impressed, could have stayed in bed longer. Met 2 guys from England who were on the trip, one from London and the other from Derby. The weather wasn't great for the hole trip. We stayed in a ski resort and we went up in the chair lift to do a walk, it was so cold and wet, I got the next lift back down, the spa pool at the hostel was calling me. The others weren't far behind.
We stopped in Canberra, not much there other than the parliament building and a museum but nice to see anyway. Spent alot of time on the bus but it was nice to see more of Australia.
Arrived in Sydney to even more rain. I didn't want to see the Sydney Harbour Bridge or Opera House in the rain so avoided them until the sun came out, which it did for a few hours.
I went to surprise a guy who I used to work with over 15yrs ago, he didn't even recognise me but was really shocked when I said who I was. I am going for a Barby on Sunday which will be fun catchin up.
Anna who I met in New Zealand was in Sydney so we met for drinks. We arranged to go to the wildlife centre, aquarium and up the sky tower the next day which was nice. I met her friend anna who she had been travelling with before she came to NZ, we had a good day/night and arranged to meet the next night.
I went to the sydney harbour bridge and opera house and around the Botanic Gardens, the sunshine came out and the rain stopped. It was nice to see and there was a lovely view of both of them from the rooftop of my hostel. I know I am in Sydney now.
Met Anna, Anna and a welsh girls called Alyson and went for drinks. Bumped into the 2 english lads I met on the bus from Melbourne and went with them to a bar that sold $3 drinks, we stayed in their until around 2am, I left them to.
Bad weather again so just hung around the hostel and then went for a walk on George street around the shops. Met Alyson and a brazilian girl and went to the pictures. We watched Due Date, OMG it was so funny I highly recommend it. Went back to the $3 bar again but only had a couple.
Made my way to Bondi beach on the bus, raining again. Still people were surfing. Stayed for a couple of hours and headed back. Had a chilled out night at the hostel.
Headed to Manly beach in the hop there would be some sunshine coming. I had seen everything I needed to in Sydney and needed a change of scenery. As soon as the boat docked the sun came out. The hostel is abit of a dive but I am only there for 2 nights. I am just so glad of the sunshine. Typical English though, first sign of sun in 5 days and I burn myself. I am heading to Palm Beach tomorrow (3rd Dec) this is where Home & Away is filmed, I haven't seen it in years so won't recognise anyone but worth a look as it is suppose to be stunning up there.
I am enjoying Australia but I will be glad to get back on the road touring again. Fingers crossed for me that it isn't going to rain when I am on the islands.
