from coca we went onto Banos, which is a town famed for its thermal springs...(which we never got around to seeing...too hungover most of the time!!) banos has the best bars, we drank our way through caiprinias and hussled the pool table....
decided we needed to actually something other than drink cocktails ($2!!!!) so we booked a tour to the jungle as we missed out in Coca...usual stuff was seen, waterfalls and copiuos amounts of butterflies that i joyfully chased around with my camera (and some damn good shots i got to!)
the best experience had to be going down the River Napo in a canoe (only an hour trip) and the village dog decided that she was going to join us and swim her way through the rapids! so instead of actually enjoying the scenery we spent the whole canoe trip looking out for the dog to see if she had survived the rapids...at one point we lost her (did i mention our group was made up of 4 soppy girls!) and hearts were in thoats until we realised that she had climbed the river bank and been smart and walked the rest of the way!....if theres a dog olympic shes on my team!!!!!
On return to banos we decided to do go vist the local meueum, which is based in a church....the museum is dedicated to all those who have died in car crashes around banos (i kid you not!!!) showing their personal effects and their funeral clothes in some cases (No Really...) did i mention that it is legal to drink and drive here....most bus accidents are beacuse the driver is drunk.... i´m not saying the two may be related at all...drink away...just as long as i´m not on board!!!...
well i´m now in Cuenca and this town has been the biggest disappointed...yeah the arcitecture may be suppurb....colonial and in pristine condition considering..however, there is a local religious festival this weekend which means that all the bars are infringing my human rights and refusing to serve alcohol...not even a glass of wine!! all the shops are shut..NO SHOPPING!!!..but...you can eat as much ice ceam as you like, as every ice cream parlour is open...booze NO...Gluttony..go for it...
so we´re heading out of this town at quick speed and looking forward to a 10 hour bus journey back into Peru....I´m ready for those boarder guards..oh yes! .......i have my passport, my yellow fever certificate and if those fail... i have my handy...i don´t know anything dumb expression...that one never fails...those boarder guards won´t know what hit them...no bribe out of me..HAHA!!!!!....
Hasta Luego me Amigos (or something like that!!!)
