Hey Peeps,
Well I made it to Thailand! I'm currently in Bangkok. We have been here since New Years eve. New Years eve was crazy. We went to the event they held at Central World. So Busy. We were knackard on new years eve because we arrived at 4pm local time and literally went straight out.
Bangkok is a lot to take in and is crazily manic all the time. If I hear the word Tuk Tuk one more time I think i will scream!
All good, apart from ending up in hospital on the second night! We did an all nighter down Khaosan Road. On the way back in the morning we saw a dog in a Superman T.Shirt (no it wasn't the dodgy Redbull, he really had a Superman T.Shirt). Darren put his hand out to it and it bit him. There was blood everywhere and because we were all completely pissed it all seemed a lot worse. After a lot of panicing, running around to find alcohol and shouting at the Consierge at our hotel to get a taxi we managed to get to the hospital. They were brilliant at the hospital and Darren was treated straight away. Luckily he didn't need stiches, but he wasn't too pleased because he had to have yet another Rabies jab and has to have another tomorrow!
We went to the Palace today, which is in the picture above.
Did the famous floating market. That's a must, but it's all geared up for the tourists and very expensive.
We visited the Tiger Temple, which is an animal sanctury where the monks live with a number of different types of animals and the tigers. Right up my street, I could have lived there. Having photos with huge tigers is quite scary, and the fact that we had to sign a disclaimer on entering was worrying. We were told we had to go in the afternoon as they have been fed then and wont want to eat us! They were on chains, which would hopefully hold.
Snake farm was also a weird one. They did a dodgy show with a king cobra, then bought it round the audience. That was really scary, because they held it over our heads and scared a few people by attempting to put it round their neck. After the show Darren and me held a pithon. Another scary experience, but had to give it a try. It wrapped its tail around my waste and scared the s*** out of me. I had to hold it's head because Darren wouldn't. Lol.
Also visited the famous Bridge over the River Kwai. The bridge is amazing, but a bit strange when you walk across it as there are huge gaps under you that fall straight to the river and the railway is fully working. It just says you have to stand to the side if a train comes! Well that's Thailand for you.
We are leaving Bangkok tonight on the night train to Chiang Mai. it's going to take 14 hrs! But we have beds, so can hopefully sleep.
