Having a blast in Sydney! Sun been out every day since we arrived, fingers crossed it continues as I hear they haven't had good weather until we got here!
Had a few relaxing days in Frenchs Forest - Jennys relations - lovely big house - pool, balcony, WINE CELLAR!!!!!! need I say anymore! It is swnaky! And Anne and David have been great hosts - teaching us about the red and the whites and we can even pick the Reislings thrown in, not so good on guessing the age of the wines yet though! Must get more practice in!
Met Kate (my cousin) for dinner and glass of wine on the 2nd night in Sydney, we sat at the Opra Bar at the side of Circular Quay, the Sydney Harbour bridge all lit up at one side and the Opera House on the other it was so sureal!
We went to see an Aussie comedian - Will Anderson, very funny and a shell of the Opera House too!
Went to the Blue Mountains yesterday (not really blue but the rays/vapour of the Gum trees creating the illusion of the blue) did a 3 hour hike down into one of the canyons - pharw!!! My knees were feeling the burn thats for sure! Amazing views and fresh water crayfish (mini lobsters to us Brits!) and beautiful parrots, no snakes thankgoodness! Think you might have heard all 3 (Jen, Craig and I) of us scream from the other side of the world if we did actually see one!
Also spent a weekend in Canberra, visually alot like Washington we thought, very nice city, leaves even falling off the trees so very autumnal but still close to 30degrees! Scorcher! We went to the War Memorial Museum, and got some inside info from a guide - nudge nudge wink wink - go to the Wolrd War II section in half an hour! So we did and the Prime Minister was there giving a speech and press release on the findings of the Kormoran and then the HMAS Sydney, quite significant to all the relatives of the men on the ships and its location of where in sank has been unknown up until now.
Kate, her friend Christina and I hired kayaks today and went round one of the bays, tricky work dodging the big boats even though they were anchored down! Great fun chilling out in the middle of the bays soaking up the sun and dreaming of living in one of the lovely houses on the North Shore line - back garden - the beach!
Well away to have some wine and sit on the balcony looking over at the city and the Sydney Harbour Bridge!
Love and hugs and sunshine! XX
