Hi Everyone,
We have made it safely back from Brazil, and just in time looking at the news of the plane crash, and are now in Canada.
We spent a couple of days in LA when we arrived back in the US to get over the 2 day trip back from Rio. We had to spend a day in Panama on the way back as we had a 10 hour lay over so we took a tour of the city, which we slept through, and then visited the Panama Canal.
The time spent in LA was pretty uneventful but nice to relax with hot weather and English speaking people, albeit a bunch of odd balls in LA. We did get the energy up to go and watch the LA Dodgers play baseball. The weather was excellent and apart from the 5 pound a beer prices we had a good time. Rather than take the 35 hour train to Seattle we decided to book a flight which took just 2 and a bit hours and was cheaper. We spent 3 days walking around Seattle, a very nice city with excellent food and lots of sights to keep us busy. Its famous for the Pike Place market, which anyone working in customer service may have seen a video about, as I did a few years ago at FP.
From Seattle we took a ferry to explore the nearby islands and the Olympic Peninsula area of the US Pacific Northwest. We stayed at a former army base used to film 'An Officer and a Gentleman', not a film I have seen I would like to add, and spent a day looking around the nice little town of Port Townsend before catching the bus to Port Angeles. We spent another day seeing the sights and looking at the sea before getting the ferry to Vancouver Island and crossing the boarder into Canada. We stayed two nights at the town of Victoria, which is very proud of its British roots and has lots of Tea for sale. Here we hired bikes for the day and cycled some of the coast. All very nice and easy going for a few days before we hit the mountains.
We have now been in Vancouver for two days and it has rained nearly the whole time. This has meant that all we have done is look around the shops, cafes and bars of the city centre. The city seems very nice but we haven't really had the chance to enjoy the best bits due to the weather. Tomorrow we head to the ski resort town of Whistler, but with no snow we will mainly be hiking in the mountains.
Cheers for now.
