After a lie in (Nicola has relented on her usual early-morning starts!!), we hired bikes from the hotel to start exploring the city. I was initially slightly reluctant about this idea, but after a bit of persuasion we were on our way to find ourselves a Copenhagen brunch.
After several stops to take millions of photos, we arrived at the beautiful old harbour front, we were sat outside eating brunch, wrapped in blankets under a heater. We then went for a wander, not really having much of an idea of our orientation and accidentally "wandered" into a department store...which we didn't manage to find the exit of for several hours. We also discovered another two Christmas markets, which resulted in us having a picture taken with Father Christmas (who spoke remarkable English and had good banter. )
On wandering around some lovely little copenhagen streets we happened across the oldest cake shop in Copenhagen. The window display was amazing and the cakes exquisite.
After warming ourselves up on earl grey we set off determined to not be sidetracked em route to the little mermaid. Needless to say we were. The mermaid was not as epic as expected (poor thing probably looked so miserable as she's had her head chopped off twice).
We cycled back via the old kasttlet fort, being shoo-d off the ramparts by a keen soldier (who we were convinced had spotted Nic taking a photo of Gemma sat on top of a cannon-oops)
After a minor map reading blip be cycled back to the hotel, had a swim, pressed the wrong button on the lift and ended up in the bar Reception in a towel (correction...this happened to Nicola, alone!), and headed out for dinner.
Danish have good cocktails and good steak. Road names less good - sat nav read getting lost twice in one day is unheard of.
Headed back to the hotel and decided to try the bar fully clothed- epic view, cocktails and you sit on swings. Tomorrow night is also sorted then!
G'night.
