The views this morning were just magnificent, I have never cycled in such a beautiful place. It was truly awesome. We have cycled a fantastic route today.
The morning started with some amazing downhill leaving me with a real dilemma of whether to go really fast down the hill or to stop and take photos. I settled for a combination of both!
The uphill was challenging, but at least half of the group (Myself, Gemma & Alyson included) all got to the top.
After lunch we had 30kms left - Gemma & I pushed on at a great pace to a drinks stop and then started the last 12km section in a small group.
We started approaching the town of Eldoret and there was a water crossing, it was not too deep so I cycled straight through (worriers stop reading now now....) unfortunately the rest of the girls in the group were a little more cautious crossing the water and I got left on my own..... So i ended up in a busy town, as a white lady alone on a bike getting lots of male attention, so I put my head down and cycled quickly hoping to see the bus and our hotel soon!
The traffic started building up and I was still on my own - I didn't want to slow down because of the locals and I had no idea what I would do if I didn't find the hotel soon..... Small amounts of panic set in!! Finally the minibus turned up and said 'follow me' and then proceeded to drive off way too fast for me to keep up!! The traffic came to a stand still and I managed to get up to the minibus but got stuck in the middle of a busy road needing to turn right.
I managed to get across the road OK and into the hotel (and relax)!
The girls who arrived after me said that in the town they had seen a dead body and also a dog hit by a car - I feel quite lucky to have made it safely to the hotel!!
Off to bed now ready for more cycling tomorrow

Kev Christ, Alison mentioned the dead body but thought not to mention it, some of these places are well dodgey, so important to keep together so you feel safe. Thanks for helping Al on the hill, I know it gave her a boost.
Janet Dunnell Were you listening when I said "take care"? Glad you're having a good time . . . X
Rhonda Hales Blimey Nicky! What are you like?! I confess, the last thing I expected to read was that there was a dead body in the road. I want to laugh but I know it's wrong! Those uphills sound awful, but the photos are stunning. Keep up the good work. Give Gem a massive hug from us. Lots of love to you both. R&M x
Karen McBride Karen 7 minutes ago (Gemma's mum) what an amazing experience you girls are having. Very well done for achieving GOLD on the BIG HILL (day 5) we are very proud of you. Big hugs and kisses for Gems, lots of love M&D xxx
