Hey people.
Yeah so I went sightseeing for like an hour. Just went to The Prison Museum...it was a really good look actually. The way the political prisoners were tortured and the horrible conditions they lived in were shocking.
When it showed you the POWs of the Vietnam-American war, it showed them having fun at Christmas and living a good life. They even had a picture of John McCain visiting the place...no mention of the fact he stayed there as a POW and was tortured so badly that he can't lift his arms above his head and tried to commit suicide twice...Hmm
Hanoi is cool. Motorbikes and mopheads EVERYWHERE. Most common phrase you hear is 'Hello, Motorbike?'
Rained last night for hours. Torrential. We went out to the bar after drinking on the roof (and stealing beer - we were rumbled when Nick stole some INFRONT of the owner - the guy didn't care he thought it was funny).
So we get to the bar quite wet, and then I went back after a bit and stole Nick's umbrella and he chased me down the street. He's a bg guy and the wind resistance slowed me down...and he was going to rugby tackle me so I just shouted "f*** this, take the damned umberlla" and threw it up and kept running until I was back haha. I was soaked. Met people on their way there so decided to go back. Turned up like I'd jumped in water...crazy s***. Then we were going to a club so I decided to go home and change as I smelt like a wet dog...
Had the umbrella with permission this time. Told them I'd meet them at whatever club they went to. So I got back to the bar and asked the staff where'd they gone. They told my taxi driver and when I get there, I see the other group of backpackers that I don't know outside...so I'd got taken to the wrong party.
Well I stuck with them for a couple of hours before crawling home stupidly late/early AGAIN.
Today I went to the lake and the market and met a girl called Charlie who's pretty cool. Off out tonight again and then getting a bus to Ha Long Bay for 2 days and 1 night kayaking and rock climbing and more drinking. Then back to Hanoi to hop on a bus down to Hue. So far so good.
