Round the World in 155 Days!
We take our final Greyhound trip up to Carins in the pouring rain. We have 2 half price nights at Cains Beach Backpackers (you can not see the beach) but when we arrive Nick dicides that getting on a courtusy bus to the hostel is not 'real' travelling so we proseed to walk for an hour to the hostel in the pouring rain, but he does carry my bag for the last 15 mins.
As we were walking to our hostel we passed a sign for mcdonlds that says '4 mins' we knew this ment 4 mins in a car but for some reason we didnt think it would another hour to walk but we keep walking and although we looked like dround rats a mcdonlds has never tasted so good. As they say, all thing happen for a reason and it just so happened that in our search for MDs we ended up passing Liz and Lees camp site (the friends we met in Byron from uni) so we trudge in and as it is pouring with rain there is only one tent we knew it had to be theirs so we wait in the camp laundry until they get back. An hour or so later we are all sitting in their camp kitchen catching up and watching the best episod of Neighbours ever.
In our Hostel we meet up with some of the guys from our first Fraser group so we end up getting dragged to the famous woolshed where we meet some other guys from our boat trip. Quite a group night where even Nick gets up on the tables and starts dancing (there were not ceiling fans)
We move to Gilligans Hostel where Ben is going to be staying and it is amazing. It is by far the best hostel we have ever seen, it has its own bar, swimming pool, personal tvs, bottle shop and even its own brand of water. We laze around until we spot Ben and Fred playing pool. A few jugs of beer later Ben and Nick go off and book us up on a white water rafting trip.
We had to meet up at 6.40 (in the morning !!) to catch our bus. We are teamed up with 3 Israeli girls and we go rafting down the Tully River. We go over grade 4/3 rapids but dont flip it so we all sit on the front of the boat with our arms around each other while we go down a ripid and fall out. We stop at a rock which is about 8m high and everyone jumps off, even me. An old man makes Nicks trip by doing what he calls 'a lendgendary pike dive'. We get back to the hostel and I cook up a Chilli and then we get some beers.
