I think I am going to start claiming that I am Italian. Dont get me wrong I love being Irish (and Native American) but wow, being Italian almost takes the gelato. If I was Italian I would be about 20lb heavier and be absolutly comfrotable with it. The food here, I have decided, is worth putting on the pounds. Everything is so incredible you cant not finish your plate, you cant not help getting another bottle of wine, a double scope of gelato, or impatiently wait for when the next time comes to stuff your face, that would be some kind of crime against humanity.
Sure I would be the whitest-pinkest Italian alive but maybe if I wore the Italian flag around my shoulders and carried a soccer ball around no one would notice.
If I was Italian I wuold hygrate myself with capachinos. Talk about the perfect way to start your day. I mean the foad to coffee ratio is an art form they have mastered.
If I was Italian I would live slow, write about love, listen to opera, eat pesto, float on waves, and be the happiest person alive.
I love Italy and love being Italian.
Yesterday, Nick and I hiked 5 Terre walking from town to town amongst the most beautiful scenary, sweetest smells, and exotic plant life I have come across on this earth. The five mile hike was lovely, the sun was gentle, and the serenity was palpable. We finsihed with a pesto pizza and a quick dip in the ocean and some downtime with our hostel friends. I can say with near certainty that it one of the best days of my life. Florence is next. xoxo
