Day 5 sees us leaving Longreach for Mt Isa. The 3 nights in longreach gave us a chance to fully set up the camper, catch up with our old next door neighbor Brad who is a vet in longreach, visit the stockmans hall of fame (twice), check out the qantas 747 jet, do some washing, swim in the pool relax in the spa, ride on our scooters and clint even squeezed in a run!
Weather is perfect a little cool of a night but certainly nothing like our first night! The drive has been easy so far... The outback is looking quite spectacular plenty of feed around which is so awesome to see as the memory of the massive drought we have experienced is so clear in my mind still it is such a beautiful sight. Currently we are driving along the highway bordering the diamantina and lake eyre basin straight roads, road trains and grey nomads, brings back my childhood of our family trips to Bourke...
Packing up this morning was planned to get up and going early, we had a hold up getting our torneau cover over the camper and had a little mishap with the stitching (running repairs needed in Isa) this might keep us there for 2 nights rather than 1.
we drove out of our site at 0810 headed for the merino bakery for breaky and on the road by 0830 singing old McDonald and some other Paddy requests!
