Headed off 8.30am on the Viganj. We set sail with a welcome drink of grappa a traditional Croatian drink strong enough to singe the nostril hairs!! Captain Feathersword Hugo) was a bit squeamish so he couldn't have his !! 1st stop Jelsa on Hvar, a typical seaside town, boats in harbour, gorgeous village dotted with pines, palms and bourganvilleas. Cafes, bars and restaurants and shops lining promenade. After an hour long wander we were back on the boat with a BBQ lunch - either a whole mackrel or chicken accompanied by Croatian wine. Captain Feathersword then dangled fish heads over the side trying to entice seagulls, he also played his nautical themed playlist of music which he'd spent all night downloading, so whole boatload was entertained by the Jaws theme, yellow submarine, six months in a leaky boat etc.
Arrived in Bol on island of Brac, got sea taxi around to Zlatni Rat - famous beach, large section of white cobbled beach stretching out into Adriatic like a horn. Several swims here in beautiful turquoise warm water. Beach all surrounded by forest of small pine trees. Walk back into Bol for 4.15 departure. More wines and beers on way home sailing along next to shore of island, very barren with a few very smart looking beach front properties with grapes growing up hillside. Back to Makarska at 6pm with Feathersword playing the wreck of Edmund fiitzgerald and Thunderstruck as we docked.
