Choppers Travels
Well, we did it. Last time i was saying that Nic may do her advanced. Well she actually did it. How cool is she. This means that when we get to indonesia we can pretty much do what we want, we did 9 dives in 5 days (with a hangover stop in the middle).
the diving yesterday was amazing, we went to some new locations and they ewre just stunning. We went to a place and dived 30metres, it's a weird feeling to pass through a thermocline (a body of cold water), its like slowly entering a swimming pool underwater? we also swam through enclosed caves (ie tunnels), pretty scary stuff.
we also did a night dive, it was strange. when you turn off your torch the algae in the water glows when you disturb it (phospherescence) so it looks pretty magical (sorry).
its hard to say what we did, but hopefully the pictures show us off a bit. We (i) were really lucky, a lad come on our course and decided to do all the expensive stuff, first he did photography, we were too tight but he took a few pictures of us (which saved us about 15 quid), then he hired a dpv (diver propulsion vehicle) so as soon as his dive finished i jumped in with my snorkle and played around with it for half an hour (another 15 quid saving), so all in all a very good day.
What else did we do? Oh yeh, we went out on our own (me and nic) around white rock (a big white rock funnily enough) and managed to find our way back to the boat (within 10 metres, which is by all accounts very clever of us!), thats about it.
we leave tomorrow to go to Koh samui, a couple of days there then off to the mainland for Nic's birthday (the 2nd of June, so don't forget, her e-mail is [email protected]). should be fun.
Hope everyone is cool will update the site once we have done something exciting (or i'm a little bored).
have a gooden,
Matt (and nic)
