Well, we are off! First leg down and it's been great so far.
Headed off last Monday (8 aug), destination Phuket. All was easy and smooth and we arrived in Phuket to 30degrees and perfect sunshine. Time for relaxation!!!
Phuket was lovely. Our hotel (Boomerang Village) was in a great spot on top of a hill away from the hustle of the town, and had happy hour each day where the extensive cocktail list consisted of $3 cocktails! Found ourselves a gorgeous little beach where the Tiger beer was icy cold and $1.50, the Thai beef salad was insanely good, and the water crystal clear and warm enough to swim in for hours. Needless to say, it didn't take us long to relax.
After 4 days in Phuket it was off for the 'real' honeymoon - Koh Tao. Getting there consisted of a flight from Phuket to koh Samui, then a 2hr ferry to Koh Tao (on which we were unsure if we would actually make it alive!!!), and then had a half hour drive up dirt tracks (thank god for Koh Tao's love of brand new 4WD utes!) but it was all worth it.
The only way to describe our accommodation at Viewpoint is 'paradise'. Walking in to our Pool Villa all we could see was our private infinity pool and 200degree views of the sparkling blue sea. WOW! the pics go nowhere near doing it justice, but it really was spectacular.
We didn't really do a whole lot in Koh Tao - we didn't want to leave our little slice of heaven! Lots of swimming, lots of reading, lots of Scrabble, Monopoly and just general relaxing, and that pretty much summed up our time in Koh Tao! Oh, and we made sure we sampled as much of the local delicacies as we could- always a must, and the Thai definitely know how to cook! I feel this may become a bit of a theme...food. Well as they say - 'when in Rome'...! All in all Koh Tao was the perfect way to spend a few much needed days relaxing and soaking up some rays, and we feel like we've already been away for a month!! Good sign that we are well and truly relaxed!
So sadly we left Koh Tao this morning, vowing to return very soon. We're currently on-route to Amsterdam - waiting in KL airport as our flight has been delayed. It's been a long day so far but with the help of 'Friday Night Lights' (our new obsession) we are getting through it.
So it's goodbye from us for now, and we will write again soon (hopefully on something bigger than an iPhone keypad cos this is draining my life). Not sure where we will be, but it'll be somewhere in Europe, and somewhere awesome - isn't everywhere awesome when you're on holidays??!
Speak soon all,
Nic and Jimmy xx
(Ok- not able to upload photos atm but will ASAP).
