To the dry land of red trousers and beyond!
After a ride in a chicken bus that actually had chickens running around on it we arrived in Todos Santos, the land of the red pants. (photos to follow when we find speedy internet). Here the ginga duo attempted to learn some Spanish and stayed with a local family in this small town where nobody NOBODY speaks English (including the teachers). We discovered on our arrival that it was ¨The Town with No Beer" a decision that was made by the locals only three weeks prior to ban the sale of all alcohol … and we were about to spend a whole week there!
The week of learning Spanish was tough ... and even tougher was the eggs and bean juice that we were served up for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lucky we found a bakery in town and we would hide in our rooms eating baked goods after dinner!Other than Spanish we have learnt that it is a requirement to wear your sports bra on any bus journey!
Chicken´s in restaurants, pigs at bedroom windows and rabid dogs wandering the streets .. a plethora of wildlife in such a small village. A great experience all round!
From there we ventured south to Nebaj and Chichi to experience the local markets, where we also discovered fantastic icecream - Yummy! Adios Guatemala .. viva Cuba!
